Saturday Afternoon = "HOLIDAY!"

At the end of most of my classes, we review what day it is and talk through the next few days: "Today is Thursday, tomorrow is Friday, I will see you on Saturday." On Saturday, however, the boys will always let you know that the afternoon and all of Sunday are "HOLIDAYS!"

So here are some pictures from this past Saturday and all of the holiday hijinks that arise (it's a truly wonderful sight!).

This is a map we made of the stupa, or chorten, in Boudha, Kathmandu. Our monastery is in blue on the bottom left of the map.

This is the Boudha chorten. It is a Buddhist place. Near the chorten are many monasteries: Kapan monastery, Jonang monastery, Porong monastery, Kagyu monastery, Nyingma monastery, Gelug monastery. Swayambhu is another very big chorten in Kathmandu. There are other chortens in Lumbini, Varanasi, Lhasa, and Bodh Gaya.

Our picnic during Losar break.
Tsering Norbu is playing football.

Lama Tsering is bringing wood for a fire.

Nima Sangey is talking about the capse (fried dough).

We ate momos, chilies, soup, apples, oranges, capse, biscuits, and tea.

This is Jonang Monastery.
